It's the Future...

Seeing how many of us LOVE Rick and Morty, apparently a VR game is coming out soon!
Though video games based on TV shows have existed literally since forever, the fact that you can interact with the show's storyline via VR is really really creepy.

It's the future.

  1. I am interested in the way the user intersects with the virtual world and how much creation as a user can be generated. Otherwise, it seems like the user is only a visitor and not a person who actually 'lives' in the space. I think Rick and Morty use this platform as a way for users to visit the world without creating or changing anything. If I have to categorize it, it would be a wasted opportunity for fans to create fan-fiction or add anything to the universe. I added the actions you can do in the Rick and Morty virtual world. Basically, you're walking around, and that's it.

    Features:
-It's your favorite 2D characters in 3D. It's RICK AND MORTY VR! They're 3D now!
-Probe, prod, throw, and smash iconic items like the Plumbus.
    -Also, it's got this thing!
-Teleport around rooms and walk through portals.
-No really! You walk with your actual feet through virtual portals!
-Get yelled at by Rick, and question your own self worth.
    -Smack Rick in the face.
    -Real fake doors!

  2. I'd like to enthuse in general about the Rick and Morty VR thing, particularly with regard to the major themes of show. Your basic existential, sardonic sadness. The whole point of Rick and Morty is that 'reality" doesn't matter and that we're all infinitesimal, not only in the grand scheme of things but even as a manifestation of the self. Whooooo Creepy. It just seems so appropriate to me that not only do Rick and Morty have access to every dimension within their own universe, but now there is a version of them that only exists and interacts when we desire them to (by choosing to play the game)... This view only works if you regard each episode of Rick and Morty as a "home video" rather than live surveillance... But still... Pretty interesting

  3. This is so crazy! It's so interesting that interactive necessitates a shift to 3D. I feel like there are such strange boundaries that get drawn in determining what visual format interactive media should take. It almost seems like I would want to do follow Rick and Morty in the familiar 2d format that I'm used to seeing them in! It's almost part of the world! I would wonder what the impetus for that type of change is and pose the question as to whether the 3d format is really more immersive, even given that if they used 2d they'd be building on years of an experienced and previously existing visual world that is familiar to the show's audience
